Everything we know about the ‘missing’ Epstein files
- Almost 50,000 ‘missing’ Jeffrey Epstein files are set to wreak havoc around the world when they are released this week.
- The documents were referred to in the tranche released in late January but appear to have been withheld.
- The unreleased records potentially contain unverified claims about Donald Trump, including unsubstantiated allegations of sexual misconduct by the US President in an FBI report.
- The Justice Department responded saying the files had been taken “offline for further review and should be ready for re-production by the end of the week”.
- However, officials previously said some documents included fake or false materials sent to the FBI that may “contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump”.
- Three FBI memos summarising interviews with a woman who came forward after Epstein’s 2019 arrest to claim she had been sexually assaulted by Trump and the financier in the mid-1980s when she was a minor
- Trump has denied all wrongdoing and inclusion in the Epstein files does not imply any criminality.
