Phoenix Suns star Dillon Brooks arrested on suspicion of DUI

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Scottsdale, Arizona, during the early hours of Friday morning, police have confirmed.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in Scottsdale at approximately 1am. Following an investigation, Brooks was arrested and subsequently taken to jail. The 30-year-old was released around 3:30am after completing the booking process.

Brooks has been sidelined from play since 21 February due to a fractured left hand, an injury that required surgery. He is currently expected to remain out of action until at least late March as he recovers.

The Phoenix Suns issued a statement regarding the incident: “We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.”

The arrest occurred just hours after the Suns played the Chicago Bulls at home on Thursday night, suffering a 105-103 defeat.

Before his injury, Brooks was enjoying the best season of his NBA career, averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game.

He joined the Suns as part of the trade that sent 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant to the Rockets during the offseason.

News of the arrest was first reported by TMZ.
