The American and Israeli war with Iran today entered its ninth day as violence continues to spread across the Middle East.

Fire flows through Tehran after oil spill

Iran’s capital erupted into flames as Israel and the US launched a fresh wave of devastating strikes in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The skies over Tehran turned a disquieting red and filled with acrid smoke after several oil and fuel depots were blown up across the Iranian capital.

Huge fireballs could be seen erupting across the city’s skyline, while residents complained of a lingering burning smell in the air, as both the US and Israel doubled down on their pledge to fight until the ‘eradication’ of the Iranian regime.

A new series of missiles are targeting the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE’s Ministry of Interior said air defences ‘are now dealing with a missile threat’.

‘Please stay in a safe place and follow the warnings and updates on official websites,’ it added.

Six people are injured, including one seriously, after Iran’s latest ballistic missile attack on Israel.

Israeli emergency services said they have treated at least three people with shrapnel injuries.

One man in his 40s in Tel Aviv is in a serious condition, while a 25-year-old and 56-year-old man have suffered minor injuries in Petah Tikva.

Explosions have been heard over Tel Aviv as Iran sends a series of missiles at Israel in retaliation for overnight strikes which left Tehran burning.

‘A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,’ the military said.

Military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said Iran’s ‘firepower has dropped dramatically all across the region, not only towards Israel’.

The missiles come after Israel bombarded Tehran overnight, hitting oil depots and causing enormous blazes.

Dark clouds of smoke billowed across the Iranian capital on Sunday morning.

A fresh round of rockets have also been sent into Israel from Lebanon, with rocket sirens blaring in in Karmiel, in northern Israel, and in surrounding towns.

An enormous fire which engulfed

following drone strikes in the early hours on Sunday morning has been contained, according to local authorities.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Information said firefighting teams ‘managed to combat the fire’ by containing it and preventing its spread.

The tower is a government site, operated by the Public Institution for Social Security, and the department said it had been targeted, ‘resulting in material damage to the building’.

It comes after the Kuwait army said it was dealing ‘with a wave of hostile drones’ including an attack on fuel tankers at the Kuwait International Airport.

The blast outside the US Embassy in Norway early on Sunday morning ‘may be linked to current security situation’, Norwegian police have said.

The explosion caused ‘minor injuries’ and damage to the consular entrance of the embassy.

‘It’s natural to see this in the context of the current security situation and that this could be an attack deliberately targeting the US embassy,’ police spokesperson Frode Larsen.said.

Smoke ​was ⁠seen rising from the area around the ​embassy compound.

The source of the explosion in Oslo or who was responsible is unclear.

Thick plumes of dark smoke are lingering in Tehran following overnight US-Israeli strikes on the Iranian capital.

Iran’s Red Crescent society has warned that Tehran may soon be inundated by toxic rain that can cause chemical burns and damage lungs following strikes on oil facilities.

In a dire notification early this morning, the humanitarian group warned residents of Tehran that they risked chronic lung and skin diseases.

The NGO warned residents in the Iranian capital not to leave their homes even after rain ceases as ‘evaporation of acid droplets from the hot ground or surfaces increases the concentration of toxins in the breathing air by several times.’

The UAE’s Defense Ministry says it has intercepted all 16 Iranian missiles, while a 17th fell into the sea.

It says it intercepted most of the drones, but four fell in UAE territory.

The ministry says it is ready to ‘firmly confront’ the threats.

Iran’s president earlier on Sunday threatened to increase attacks on US targets across the region.

The United Arab Emirates says that Iran has fired 16 ballistic missiles and 117 drones in new barrages as the regime continues to furiously attack Israel, the US and its allies in the Gulf.

The latest wave of missiles comes after a night drone attack on two of Dubai’s most upmarket areas left one man dead.

Two residential skyscrapers were also left in flames last night, after a day which also saw a strike on the city’s airport.

Britain has just two days worth of natural gas in storage, sparking fears of a shortage crisis as the Middle East conflict threatens supplies.

The UK’s gas reserves have dwindled from 18,000 GWh last year to 6,700 GWh, enough for just 1.5 days of demand, according to new data published by National Gas. There is a similar quantity stored as liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Europe is much better prepared to weather fluctuations in supply, with several weeks’ worth of gas stored up.

Traders have been exploiting the UK’s situation by charging it a premium price on gas, knowing it has no choice but to outbid its European competitors.

The UK is now paying the highest wholesale gas price in Europe.

Disruption to the gas market is driven partly by the near-total closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which around 20 percent of the world’s natural gas and oil flows, and also by the shutdown of production in some places.
