Arsenal information: £100m switch route with Man Utd combat as agent says ‘our plans are clear’

Arsenal could have clear run at a top target with Premier League rivals Manchester United switching their attention ahead of the summer transfer window

On Sunday, Arsenal will have an opportunity to secure their first trophy of the campaign – and their first major silverware since 2020 – when they take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Mikel Arteta and his squad remain in the hunt for four pieces of silverware. They have ended as League Cup runners-up three times since last claiming the trophy in 1993 – most recently when City thrashed them 3-0 in 2018. They require three additional victories to secure the FA Cup, while a nine-point advantage in the league positions them favourably for the title.

A maiden Champions League triumph remains within reach following Tuesday’s triumph over Bayer Leverkusen, with Sporting CP awaiting in the quarter-finals. And while worries over PSR might compel Arsenal to be inventive in the summer transfer market, that doesn’t suggest they won’t acquire any new senior players. Here’s all the latest news from the Emirates Stadium.

Tonali path opens up

Arsenal-linked midfielder Sandro Tonali has also been mentioned in connection with Manchester United. However, the Red Devils now appear to be focused on the Italian’s team-mate Bruno Guimaraes, reports the Mirror.

United are reportedly in advanced discussions for the Brazil international, who arrived at Newcastle in January 2022. The 28-year-old is tied down until 2028, with a transfer fee of £69million being suggested.

Juventus have also been tracking Tonali but are thought to believe they cannot match English clubs financially. This could give Arsenal a clear path to the former AC Milan star, 25.

However, Newcastle are unlikely to approve departures for both midfielders without securing a quality replacement.

The i has reported that Newcastle would want a fee in the region of £100million to let Tonali go, having signed him for £60m when he joined in 2023.

Pio Esposito agent speaks out

Arsenal may find themselves reshuffling their attack during the summer, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.

Inter Milan sensation Pio Esposito is one name that has emerged following an outstanding campaign for club and country.

The Italy international, 20, returned to the San Siro after netting prolifically while on loan at Spezia last season. He has already notched eight goals across all competitions for Inter alongside three strikes in five senior international caps for the Azzurri.

Mario Giuffredi, the player’s representative, has now confirmed Arsenal are keen on the youngster. However, he suggested a transfer isn’t imminent.

“Despite Arsenal’s interest, our plans are clear,” he told Radio CRC. “He’s happy at Inter and will be the future of the Nerazzurri for the next 10 years. The boy is in love with Inter.”
