PGA Tour golf star turns heads on the course after launching weird plan to search out himself a spouse within the crowd

Professional golfer Alejandro Tosti has hatched a plan to find himself a wife at the Valspar Championship this week. 

The Valspar is one of the more entertaining stops on the PGA Tour, allowing players and their caddies the freedom to get creative. 

Since 2021, the tournament has upheld the tradition of allowing players to choose custom messages in place of their names on the back of their caddies’ bibs. 

This year, Max McGreevy used his to take a dig at his caddie’s fantasy football record, Zach Bauchou went for his bagman’s Venmo tag, and Neal Shipley went for ‘OSU 27-Mich 9’ in a vicious swipe at the Wolverines.

However, Tosti, 29, plumped for using his caddie’s bib as an alternative to dating apps, seizing the opportunity to help him on his quest for love. 

The Argentine’s bagman, Joaquin Ali, sported ‘NEED A WIFE’ on his bib, making it clear that Tosti is single and ready to mingle.

The 29-year-old, who has almost $3 million in career earnings, gave his dating pitch 

But Tosti admitted that the idea backfired when spectators began to think that it was his caddie Ali who was on the market. 

‘The ladies that volunteer here were asking me, “Do you have a wife?” I said, “No,” and it came from there,’ he explained in a video shared by the PGA Tour. 

‘A lot of people were asking if it was my caddie that was needing a wife, but, no, it’s actually me. A lot of people were taking pictures and making fun of him and asking what was going on and, yeah, it was fun.’

‘I offer a lot of good stuff. I love cooking. I fly planes. I can play golf and have fun,’ he added, giving his sales pitch to any prospective bachelorettes.

Tosti, who has almost $3 million in career earnings across the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour, sits at even par following the first round at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Florida. 

After shooting 18 consecutive pars, he sat seven shots back of round-one leader Sung-jae Im heading into Friday’s second round of action. 

Many players opt for nicknames when picking out their message for the back of their caddies’ bibs. Among the field, there was Ben Griffin’s ‘Benny Booms,’ ‘Soup’ for Brian Campbell, ‘Moose’ for Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, ‘Koala’ for Karl Vilips, and ‘Beef’ for Frankie Capan III.

Others select touching nods to their loved ones, with Justin Thomas’s caddie wearing ‘Molly’s Dad’ and Aaron Rai going with ‘Dalvir Shukla,’ his mom’s name.

Sahith Theegala made a romantic gesture, choosing to go with ‘Juju’s fiancé’ as a nod to his future bride.
