BREAKING Tiger Woods says ‘I used to be simply speaking to Trump’ moments after DUI crash

Tiger Woods was caught on police bodycam saying “I was just talking to the President” in the moments after the crash in which he was arrested for driving under the influence.

The golfing star said he had just called Donald Trump following the crash in newly-released police cam footage. Woods was arrested after the rollover crash on Friday as he tried to overtake a truck at high speed. Police then found two opioid pills in his pocket and arrested him before being hit with several charges including driving under the influence.

The newly-released bodycam footage shows Woods seemingly just coming off the phone before telling cops: “I was just talking with the President.” Moments before the 50-year-old can be heard saying: “Thank you so much – all right, you got it, thank you, bye.”

In other footage, Woods is seen wearing sunglasses and kneeling on the side of the road while being questioned.

“Looked down at my phone and then all the sudden, boom,” the golf legend told cops. He is then patted down to check for injuries as the officer asks the other driver: “Who hit him?” To which the driver, pointing at Woods, responds: “He hit me!” Another clip showed Woods taking part in a sobriety test by following a pen with his eyes.

Woods was then found with two white pills, which were bagged into evidence. Woods was asked if he takes any prescription medication, and he reportedly replied: “I take a few.”

The golfer passed a breathalyser test at the scene but, according to the affidavit, refused a urine test.

Woods was booked and charged on the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs – spending eight hours in jail before he was released on bail.

In a statement, Woods said: “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.

“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.

“I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

He will appear in court on or before Friday, April 17, 2026.
