Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov LIVE: Round-by-round updates and scorecard because the Gypsy King makes his return – plus bloodied Conor Benn beats Regis Prograis

Follow Daily Mail Sport’s live blog for the ring walk times, undercard results and round-by-round updates as Tyson Fury takes on Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Fury turns the tables on Makhmudov

The Russian is surging at Fury, but he twists out of the way, and nabs him, rope-a-dope-style. Fury gets a few blustering shots in, dragging momentum his way.

Daily Mail Sport’s JEFF POWELL gives his verdict:

Fury rode them, as he does, and the computer beneath that shaven head began coming up with the answers as he boxed his man and then treated him to some big shots of his own. FURY 10-9 MAKHMUDOV

Makhmudov wastes no time in round one

He comes in on the offensive, forcing Fury into the corner from the centre of the ring. The Russian has his opponent against the ropes, landing his first punch on the side of Fury’s head, forcing him about this way and that.

Fury is hanging in nimbly here, swatting at Makhmudov when backed into a corner, but if there’s one thing the Gypsy King knows, its the comeback. Passing judgement this early would prove very foolish indeed.

Towards the end of the round, Fury gets bouncier, getting into his flow.

Daily Mail Sport’s JEFF POWELL gives his verdict:

Fury made his entrance to the strains of Blue Moon in honour of his late, great friend Hatton the Hitman. When he derobed he revealed the tribute ‘RIP Ricky’ emblazoned on his shorts. If he needed any added inspiration to put on a knock-out show, there it was. True to his reputation as a fast starter Makhmurdov charged out to land the first two fistfuls of swinging punches – FURY 9-10 MAKHMUDOV

A scrappy first round!

‘Let’s get ready to rumble!’

Michael Buffer calls, before introducing Makhmudov, who is roundly booed.

I don’t think the man who trained with a literal bear for this match-up is going to be hugely bothered by playing the underdog in London.

Fury’s Hatton tribute and ringwalk

Tyson Fury honours Ricky Hatton

A touching gesture from Fury, who calls upon the crowd to stand, before playing Blue Moon – the anthem of Hatton’s beloved Man City. The moment is respectively observed.

Here comes the voiceover… ‘a giant who conquered champions, and proved that greatness is never given – it is forged in battles.

‘Under the old English battle cock of Tottenham Hotspur, the Gypsy King returns’.

Nice and understated, and here comes the old battle cock himself – scored to the iconic Bring Me Back To Life by Evanescence.

Immaculate choice, peppered with the pop of yet more fireworks. It bleeds into Give Me Everything by Ne-Yo and Pitbull. Yeah!

First up, Arslanbek Makhmudov’s ringwalk

We start with a prison-style siren to herald ‘the Lion’. A man alone in an understated black hoodie, the Russian makes his way almost humbly up to the ring, jerking his head left and right, looking for focus.

Red searchlights pick out figures in the crowd. Nice apocalyptic vibe to get us going here.

Here they come… it’s the main event

And we start with an enormous AI (?) video of Fury and Makhmudov walking, Godzilla-style through central London, all the way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fireworks around the stadium underscore the electric feeling… moments to go until the ringwalk!

Lennox Lewis weighs in on Tyson Fury’s mood going into the main event

I think he’s facing pressure. But we create our own pressure. He doesn’t look like he has pressure on him.

He knows what he needs to be the best. I think he’s feeling himself right now, and this could be a good fight for him.

The moment Benn’s told he has won!

Breaking:Conor Benn wins by unanimous decision!

The judges unanimously score Benn 98 to Prograis’ 92.

The opponents are brimming with respect for one another, shaking hands and speaking amicably after the result is announced.

So ends Benn’s one-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing. What next for the Destroyer?

That’s all folks!

The cagey affair ends with another strong round for Benn, who has looked fiercer of the two for large swathes of the contest.

With both men standing, it’ll come down to the points – but the home favourite looks likelier.
