Fifty footballers and a Formula 1 driver have reportedly been involved in a luxury prostitution ring as police make four arrests.

Italian police have reportedly dismantled a network accused of prostitution that allegedly served high-level footballers and an unnamed F1 star. According to La Gazzetta, around 50 Serie A players, including some from AC Milan and Inter were involved as customers. It’s also said there is talk in the investigation regarding a pregnant woman as a result of her relationship with one of the clients.

Four people are reportedly under house arrest accused of facilitating prostitution by organising escort services as well as money laundering from the activity.

It’s also added that the use of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, was used as a recreational substance.

However, the customers are not under investigation. Although it has caused major controversy in Italy, especially surrounding AC Milan and Inter given their location in the same city. No specific names have been released.

Regarding the F1 driver who allegedly used the services of the network, wiretaps published by La Gazzetta allegedly asked: “I have a friend who is a Formula 1 driver and he wants a paid girlfriend. Can we find her?”

To which a reply said: “I’ll send him the Brazilian.”

The operation reportedly included searches of several properties and the seizure of more than 1.2million euros, considered by the authorities to be illicit proceeds from the activity under investigation.

According to the report, the organisation offered “all-inclusive” packages for several thousand euros, including dinners in exclusive Milan venues, accommodation in high-end hotels and the company of women.

The network reportedly operated under the guise of an events agency based in the Milan metropolitan area, which had allegedly organised parties in nightclubs for years, while managing the recruitment of women, including professional escorts.
