Brits urged to take inspiration from the Aussies when making a cup of tea

With the dawn of National Tea Day, Brits are urged to step out of the box in regards to their usual daily brew – and instead take a hint from the other side of the world

Nothing is more British than the ritual of making a good strong brew. But experts are now introducing tea drinkers to the Aussie way of life – and it’s all in the biscuits.

Tuesday April 21 marks National Tea Day and while people up and down the country will be enjoying a mug of the good stuff, there is one way it can be elevated. Aussie biscuit brand Tim Tam have teamed up with the beloved Yorkshire Tea to create a flavour flight – a curated pairing of complementary flavours designed to elevate the tea-drinking occasion.

With Brits being encouraged to upgrade their tea break this National Tea Day, the concept offers a simple way to bring a new twist to a much-loved national ritual, by dunking a Tim Tam with Yorkshire Tea for a distinctive tasting moment.

Bringing Australia’s favourite tea-time ritual to the UK: the Tim Tam Slam, all you need to do is bite off opposite corners, sip, and slam, as hot tea melts the centre for a rich, chocolatey hit.

A cult classic in Australia, the Slam is now gaining global traction. Aussie stars including Isla Fisher and Sarah Snook have recently demonstrated it on The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, calling Tim Tam bikkies one of the things they miss most from home.

And it’s not just hype, nearly half of Australians (48%) say trying a Tim Tam Slam is a must for international visitors, ranking it alongside bucket-list experiences like the Great Barrier Reef and travelling the Great Ocean Road.

Francesca Reid, Global Marketing Manager for Tim Tam added: “Tim Tam is the perfect companion to a great cup of tea. This National Tea Day, our iconic layers of indulgence, crunchy biscuit, smooth cream and a chocolatey coating bring a new level of enjoyment to tea time, especially when paired with the classic Aussie ritual of a Tim Tam Slam”.

This National Tea Day, will you be rethinking the dunk?
