Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he is “in excellent physical condition” after his annual medical report revealed that a malignant tumour had been removed.
In a post on X on Friday, Netanyahu explained that doctors discovered an early-stage malignant tumour during routine monitoring that followed a successful surgery for an enlarged benign prostate. He added that the treatment had “removed the problem and left no trace of it”.
Netanyahu also said he had asked for the publication of his health record to be delayed so it would not come out during the peak of the US and Israel’s war with Iran, in order to prevent Tehran from spreading “even more false propaganda against Israel”.
According to the Israeli leader, the initial surgery for the enlarged benign prostate took place about a year and a half ago. Since then, he has been undergoing routine monitoring, during which “a tiny spot of less than a centimetre” was found in the most recent check.
“I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated. Thank God, it’s behind me,” he said.
In the same detailed post, Netanyahu explained that he chose to proceed with treatment because “when I’m given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately”.
He added: “This is true on the national level and also on the personal level.”
The disclosure comes as Netanyahu is expected to visit the White House in the coming weeks, while the US works to broker a long-lasting peace agreement in the war with Iran.
Israel’s ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, following fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, has been extended by three weeks.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump seemed to nod off during a White House event. Trump held a Health Care Affordability Event on Thursday, April 24, but has ignited health worries himself as his eyes shut and mouth appeared to sag while others were delivering speeches.
One X user shared the video, in which the US leader repeatedly closes his eyes for a few seconds at a time while his head leans to one side. The user commented: “Trump is fighting total war against wokeness as his eyes close and his mouth droops”.
Another remarked: “Trump dozes off at his event on affordability.” And a third observed: “Trump takes a quick nap in the Oval Office.”
The peculiar moment occurred as Trump spoke to journalists inside the Oval Office about the ongoing conflict with Iran, where he was also asked if he would employ a nuclear weapon.
“No, I wouldn’t,” Trump responds. “Why would I need it? Why would a stupid question like that be asked? Why would I use a nuclear weapon when we totally, in a very convincing way, decimated them?”
“A nuclear weapon should never be allowed to be used by anybody.”
