YouTuber Billy Moore has broken his silence after a video of a brawl inside a gym became viral. Footage extensively circulated on platforms including X, Facebook and Instagram seems to depict two men fighting in the men’s changing rooms at a David Lloyd gym on Monday, April 27.
The altercation reportedly occurred at the Knowsley Industrial Estate on Arbour Lane, Merseyside with several spectators witnessing the event unfold. Merseyside Police confirmed that officers were summoned to the scene around 6.10pm following reports that two men had been injured during a scuffle within the gym.
A 46-year-old man from Brighton-le-Sands and a 53-year-old man from Netherley were both apprehended on suspicion of affray and taken into custody for questioning. They have since been released on bail under certain conditions.
Billy Moore, who has over 400,000 followers on social media, has subsequently posted a statement on Facebook addressing the incident. The ex-boxer has amassed a following on social media where he expresses his opinions on politics and current events.
He penned: “FACTS NOT FICTION!! Let’s get straight to the point I’m no GRASS!!”, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“I’ve been arrested for an affray after the gym contacted the police.”
Mr Moore stated he was “aware” of videos being shared online and alleged they contained “incorrect information” which are “untrue”.
He continued: “I’ve been police bailed after spending 19 hours in the cells and I have not provided a statement regarding assault on anybody!!
“I can’t discuss the matter in question but I do appreciate all your messages.”
Videos from inside the gym depict two shirtless men, both donning blue shorts, wrestling near the lockers. At one stage, one bloke seems to jab the other in the eye before they both trade punches. The footage then captures the men parting ways, with one appearing bloodied, his face and chest noticeably marked.
Other snippets making the rounds online show the wounded man conversing with police officers elsewhere in the gym, while another displays one of the men exiting the building escorted by officers.
A bystander informed the ECHO that staff were summoned via the tannoy to the men’s changing room after the scuffle erupted.
A spokesperson for David Lloyd chose not to comment.
Detective Inspector Edward Barr described the incident as “shocking” since children were present in the gym during the brawl.
He stated: “This would have been a shocking incident to witness, carried out in full view of members of the public nearby, including children.
“We are gathering all available evidence and want to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or has since received information.
“Two men are in custody and we are working hard to establish the timeline of this incident.
“We are aware of a social media video of the incident and I would urge people with information not to comment on such channels, but come to us directly so as not to hinder the investigation.”
