‘Call me Mrs Graham Norton’ – Team GB Olympian makes daring profession vow

Montell Douglas was speaking at the 2026 London Sport Awards, where she hosted proceedings and a Q&A session with Greg Cackett at the iconic Guildhall

Olympian Montell Douglas says she dreams of becoming the ‘Mrs Graham Norton’ of the showbiz world as she embarks on her next challenge.

Recently starring as ‘Fire’ in BBC show Gladiators, the 40-year-old also competed in Strictly Come Dancing after a bobsleigh and sprinting career that crowned her Britain’s first female representative at both the summer and winter Olympic Games.

Douglas said: “I’m slowly shimmying my way to the world of presenting because it’s my dream job. Hopefully, some big sporting events coming up will help me get a taste of that. I just say yes to a lot of things.

“I feel like I’m a game show host. I love a daytime quiz show – I would love to do something like that. Also, being a chat show host would lean into my strengths, as I love those conversations going back and forth with somebody, with banter and playfulness. You don’t have to be too flamboyant.

“If I could have my own show one day – call me Mrs Graham Norton – that would be great. You’ve got to dream big.”

The departure of Tess Daley and Claudia Winkleman from Strictly has left fans guessing at their replacements, including 2024 contestant Douglas.

She said: “There’s been lots of talk, but I do know they might be changing the format, which would be interesting. Once you change one thing, you may as well change everything, which is really positive. I’m a massive advocate of reinvention.

“They’re very big shoes to fill and I wouldn’t want to do that! You can put me on It Takes Two, though!”
