Local elections 2026 – reside: Voters go to polls as Labour and Reform face off

Millions of people across Wales, Scotland and parts of England are casting their vote today in elections considered crucial for Keir Starmer’s future as PM.
Labour is braced for a difficult night, with polls predicting labour could lose some 1,850 seat in councils across England. There are also fears the party could lose control of Wales, and even slump to third in Scotland.
In a final plea to voters, the PM urged them to “choose unity over division”, and reject the divisive politics of Nigel Farage.
Reform UK are expected to be the big winners of the vote, with the Green Party and Lib Dems also making gains.
