Jimmy White received a round of applause from snooker fans at the Crucible after making a sex gag in the middle of a break.
The Whirlwind was facing Robert Milkins in the last 16 of the World Seniors Championship when he made the risqué comment. Trailing 3-2, White needed to win the frame to force a decider. With the frame secured, the six-time World Championship finalist was in high spirits.
When his break reached 69, White turned to the referee and asked: “How many?” With the official looking embarrassed, the 64-year-old asked once more. When he finally repeated it, White joked: “It’s been a while,” prompting laughter from spectators.

He then potted a tough red before turning back to the referee and adding: “Not for you, I don’t think!” That triggered further laughter from the crowd before White completed a break of 86.
White wasn’t amused for long, as the match progressed to a black-ball shootout rather than a full frame to decide the match. White attempted to double the black down the full length of the table, only for it to jam in the jaws of the yellow pocket, enabling Milkins to secure a 4-3 triumph and book a quarter-final clash against Igor Figueiredo.
The Brazilian advanced to the last eight by defeating defending champion Alfie Burden 4-0, a match relocated to a practice table due to a problem with one of the main tables.
Officials were compelled to take urgent measures after a peculiar occurrence during Matthew Stevens’ encounter with Dominic Dale. Stevens tried to sink a red, only to witness both the red and white ball leap from the cloth.
The match was then put on hold until Ali Carter vs Roger Farebrother concluded, then resumed on the other table, with Burden versus Figueiredo relocated behind the scenes. Stevens ultimately triumphed over Dale, while Carter dispatched Farebrother to advance to the last eight.
A World Seniors Snooker statement said: “Due to a fault with Table Two, there will be no further play on it this evening. Matthew Stevens and Dominic Dale will conclude their match on Table One following Ali Carter v Roger Farebrother.
“Alfie Burden and Igor Figueiredo will play at 9pm BST in a private area of the practice room. Table Two will be replaced overnight.”
The World Seniors Championship, which boasts a prize fund of £80,000, has attracted several big names, including seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, who will face 1997 world champion Ken Doherty in the second round on Friday afternoon.
Another icon, Mark Williams, had been scheduled to participate but pulled out just before the tournament.
