Moment child rapist Ian Watkins stumbles from cell after ‘inmate slashed his neck’

Disgraced paedophile Ian Watkins suffered three wounds to his head and neck during an attack at HMP Wakefield, also known as Monster Mansion, as footage of the aftermath emerged

The terrifying moment sick paedo Ian Watkins stumbles from his cell after an “inmate slashed his throat”, was shown in a court. The former Lostprophets singer was attacked at HMP Wakefield, known as Monster Mansion, where he was serving a 29-year sentence for child sex offences.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 44, are both accused of murdering Watkins at the maximum security prison. Footage showed to the jury featured Watkins stagger out of his cell after his throat was slashed.

Blood can be seen around his neck as he beckons over some nearby workmen. The court heard that Gedel can be seen walking away in the opposite direction after the horror unfolded.

Prosecutor Tom Storey KC told Leeds Crown Court: “The footage shows Ian Watkins emerging briefly from his cell at the same time as two workmen, who were carrying out maintenance in the prison were walking towards him along the landing.

“And the footage clearly shows blood visible on the neck of the t-shirt he was wearing.

“The workmen noticed Watkins emerging from his cell. They saw that he was holding his hand to his neck, and was obviously bleeding from a wound.

“The workmen immediately signalled for staff assistance, and three prison officers who had been outside an office further along the landing ran towards Watkins’ cell.”

“As you will hear, not only was Ian Watkins a particularly notorious and high-profile prisoner, but the day before he was killed, he had received two notes accusing him of getting another prisoner kicked off the wing, demanding money from him and threatening violence towards him.”
