Arsenal are being linked with a blockbuster summer transfer as the Gunners continue their push for an historic Premier League and Champions League double
The feelgood factor continues at Arsenal following their controversial win over West Ham which maintained their Premier League title aspirations.
The Gunners clinched a disputed 1-0 victory on Sunday after a late VAR decision chalked off Callum Wilson’s dramatic leveller. Mikel Arteta faces a packed schedule with a Champions League final clash against Paris Saint-Germain also on the horizon. Nevertheless, there’s considerable activity behind the scenes that’s generating optimism around the Emirates Stadium.
Indeed, two fresh developments are providing Arsenal with renewed confidence following recent remarks that offered insight into a pair of players’ futures and their intentions. Here’s all the latest news from the Emirates Stadium as Arteta and his team prepare for their upcoming fixture at home to Burnley next Monday as they bid to end a 22-year title drought.

Lewis-Skelly discusses his future
Amidst the pressures surrounding Arsenal’s title pursuit, Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contractual circumstances have become an underlying narrative gaining momentum in recent weeks.
The 19-year-old penned fresh terms only last year, yet there have been worries he might be considering his options including leaving North London after managing merely four Premier League starts this campaign, reports the Mirror.
Three of those have arrived since the beginning of April, including full 90-minute displays in midfield during recent victories over Fulham and West Ham. He also impressed in midfield during the Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid, clocking up more European minutes this campaign than he has managed domestically.
Nevertheless, Lewis-Skelly showcased his team-first mentality with his remarks following the West Ham triumph as he declared: “I am focused on the games that we have got coming up and bringing this club back to glory.”
When questioned about the squad’s mood after the dramatic late drama against West Ham, he continued: “Just joy, excitement, fulfilment – everything you can describe. We are buzzing, but we know that the job is not done. We have got two more finals left now. The next one is Burnley – and then we go on from there.”
It highlights the teenager’s dedication and modest approach that he’s prioritising the club above any individual aspirations. And with another four years remaining on his existing contract, there’s scant reason for Lewis-Skelly to feel any urgency.
Having discovered renewed confidence from his manager deploying him in a midfield role, their bond appears solid once again. And for now at least, any concerns about a possible Lewis-Skelly departure this summer seem to have evaporated.
Howe discusses Anthony Gordon
Transfer speculation linking Arsenal with Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has intensified of late.
This follows the England international being left as an unused substitute once more during the Magpies’ 1-1 stalemate with Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Arsenal supporters would be wise to pay close attention to Eddie Howe’s comments when pressed about Gordon’s circumstances following the match.
Gordon, 25, has been repeatedly touted for a switch to the Emirates, though the Newcastle boss initially indicated his absence at the City Ground was understandable given a recent hip problem.
“Obviously, he has returned from an injury,” said Howe after Saturday’s result. “I am looking at the team, and I am pleased with how the team has performed in the last three games. So I didn’t want to make too many changes.”
Nevertheless, one must question why Gordon was included on the Newcastle bench at all if he remained unfit to participate. And it was a subsequent comment about planning ahead that might capture Arsenal fans’ attention.
Speaking in a radio interview, he added: “It was tactical. The team has performed well in Anthony’s absence, we have gone with a bit more solidity with Joelinton playing wide.
“One winger on one side to strengthen us defensively as we weren’t happy with how we were defending. Since January, we have been disappointed with a strange structure. Ant has come back to fitness and is training well but also I am looking at the future.”
That comment in particular has sparked rumours that Gordon could be on the move again. The winger is reportedly valued at £75million – £35m more than Newcastle initially shelled out to secure him from Everton in 2023.
However, the North London giants could face competition from the likes of Premier League rivals Liverpool and Bundesliga titans Bayern Munich for his signature.
Gordon was reportedly offered by the Magpies to his boyhood club Liverpool in the summer of 2024 – with the Reds in need of a new winger this summer – while Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is also said to admire him.
