Euphrates drying sparks biblical prophecy fears – need to know
- The Euphrates River is drying up at an alarming rate, sparking fears that a Biblical end-times prophecy could be unfolding.
- The ancient waterway, which flows through Turkey, Syria and Iraq, plays a crucial role in the Book of Revelation. Biblical prophecy states that when the Euphrates dries up, it will “prepare the way for the kings from the East” towards the Battle of Armageddon.
- A 2013 NASA report revealed the Tigris and Euphrates river basins lost a staggering 117 million acre feet of freshwater between 2003 and 2009. The majority of this loss was due to groundwater extraction from underground reservoirs.
- Iraq’s Ministry of Water Resources has warned the river could completely dry up by 2040 without immediate action. Climate change and droughts are making the situation worse.
- The water crisis is already causing serious health problems across Iraq. “Diarrhea, chicken pox, measles, typhoid fever, and cholera are currently spreading across Iraq because of the water crisis,” climate activist Naseer Baqar told BJM.
- Water levels have now dropped to one of the lowest points ever recorded according to experts. Many end-times believers are convinced this ancient prophecy is coming true before their eyes.
- As the river continues to shrink, people are debating whether this signals the apocalypse or is simply more evidence of climate change.
