Kids’ TV legend Mr Tumble says he gets proposals of marriage from mums. The 55-year-old – real name Justin Fletcher – has starred as the slapstick Mr Tumble on CBeebies since 2003.

His Something Special show is watched by millions of children all over the UK – as well as their parents.

Speaking this week, Justin said he was so widely known that when he went to collect his MBE at Windsor Castle in 2008, a guard nodded at him saying simply ‘Mr Tumble’.

He said his fame wasn’t just limited to him being called Mr Tumble rather than Justin, but that mums even write to him asking him if they’d marry them.

He said: “I’m so used to people calling me ‘Justin’ or ‘Mr Tumble’, I answer to both.

“I was walking through Windsor Castle, on my way to collect my MBE, and one of the guards acknowledged me by simply saying ‘Mr Tumble’.

“It really made me chuckle.”

Asked if it was true that he was inundated with offers of marriage from ‘over-excited mothers’ watching the show with their little ones, he said: “I might have got an email or two.”

Among the celebrity fans are rocker Bryan Adams.

The 66-year-old Canadian singer said previously: “I like to relax watching Mr Tumble. His antics always have me in hysterics.”

Footballer-turned-pundit Wayne Rooney said Mr Tumble is the reason he got the snip.

Wayne said: “I hate Mr Tumble,” the former England captain fumed. “I was in the dressing room for Match of the Day, and his dressing room was next to me; Justin his name isn’t it?

“And the reason I hate him, I don’t hate him and what he does, but I’ve had to sit through it four times. Every kid. I’ve been through him four times.
