Bodybuilder star, 22, discovered useless in kitchen as cops probe ‘suspicious’ dying

Brazilian bodybuilder and fitness influencer Ganley Gabriel has died aged 22 after being rushed to hospital in a coma, with unconfirmed reports suggesting hypoglycemia as a possible cause

A bodybuilder influencer has tragically been found dead in his kitchen aged 22. Brazilian social media star Gabriel Ganley was found lifeless on the floor of his kitchen in Sao Paulo on Saturday morning (May 23).

Gabriel’s death has been listed as “suspicious” despite there being no apparent signs of violence at the scene as investigative authorities launch a probe. Unconfirmed reports have suggested that Gabriel may have passed away due to hypoglycaemia, a condition where blood glucose levels fall dangerously low.

This condition can be fatal, as glucose is the main source of energy for the brain and nervous system. However, there has been no official response to these reports as yet. Gabriel had amassed over two million followers on Instagram, and his page was swiftly inundated with tributes following the announcement of his death.

One fan wrote: “Ganley, you were an exceptional influencer who inspired millions globally. Rest in peace.”

Another commented: “He left a significant legacy in such a short time. He lived life on his own terms. Rest in peace bro.” Leading Brazilian sports nutrition and dietary supplement brand Integralmedica paid tribute, saying: “Today the pain speaks louder. With great sadness, we bid farewell to [Gabriel], who lived life to the fullest and shared historic and unforgettable moments with our family.”

He gained fame on the platform after posting a video of himself performing an impressive 500-kilogram leg press.

Before establishing himself online as a fitness influencer, regularly sharing workout videos showcasing his intense gym routines, the former PE student had been a competitive Pokemon player, ranking among the top eight in Latin America at the peak of his career.

He quit Pokemon at just 15-years-old. Prior to focusing on weight training, he had also practised boxing, Jiu Jitsu and wrestling.

Gabriel insisted he didn’t view himself merely as a digital influencer, but rather as an athlete who utilised the internet as a professional tool.

His devastating death at just 22 marks the latest in a series of recent tragedies to hit bodybuilders, with numerous critics swift to connect the deaths to steroid use and other performance-enhancing substances.
