LIZZY BUCHAN: ‘Reform present their true colors over ‘misogynist’ Carol Vorderman publish’

Reform’s by-election candidate in Makerfield, plumber Robert Kenyon, is under fire for vile comments about Carol Vorderman in a now-deleted social media post

Once again, Reform are showing us their true colours.

The party’s by-election candidate in Makerfield, plumber Robert Kenyon, is under fire for backing vile comments about Carol Vorderman in a now-deleted social media post. The TV star branded him a misogynist and said she wouldn’t let him in her house if he was working in her area.

Women shouldn’t have to put up with this rubbish. But instead of dealing with it like any other political party would, Reform MP Danny Kruger offered weasel words, saying it was “inappropriate” but they were “private” remarks. This is despite being posted on a public X account, which has now been deleted.

This sorry episode tells us something about who the would-be MP for Makerfield really is. And the lack of action also shows us who Reform really are – a party that doesn’t seem to care about online abuse of women.

Voters who are fed up of the status quo are casting around for someone who can change things. For some people, Mr Farage fits the bill. He seems like he would be a laugh down the pub and he says he’s telling it like it is.

But behind all that, he’s showing you every day who he really is. A man who claims to stand up for workers but wants to scrap your employment rights. A man who wants to make life easier on landlords not renters, to help big business not ordinary people.

A man who failed to sack his MP Sarah Pochin when she complained about seeing too many Black and Brown people in adverts. A man dogged by claims of schoolboy racism from his former classmates.

A man who gave a platform to a doctor at Reform’s party conference who said Covid vaccines played a role in the Royals cancer. A man who championed Lucy Connolly, who was jailed after calling for migrant hotels to be set on fire on the day of the Southport attack.

A man who said his party was different then recruited a bunch of failed Tories, whose Governments starved public services and destroyed public trust.

A man who took £5million from a crypto billionaire pal and failed to declare it – then claimed Russian spies had hacked his phone but refused to provide any evidence for it.

As the saying goes: “When people show you who they are, believe them.”
