Boy, 13, who died ‘getting in issue’ at dam in Bank Holiday tragedy named and pictured
The 13-year-old has been named locally as Reco Puttock, from Bradford, and was pulled from the water at Leadbeater Dam in Halifax following a multi-agency rescue operation
A lad who tragically lost his life after encountering trouble in the water at a dam in Halifax has been identified.
The 13-year-old boy, locally known as Reco Puttock from Bradford, was rescued from the water after struggling at Leadbeater Dam on Lumb Lane, near Wainstalls. He was rushed to hospital but despite all efforts, he was later declared dead.
In the aftermath of the tragic incident, photos of Reco started circulating on social media, providing many outside his immediate circle their first glimpse of the young lad at the heart of the devastating news. Emergency services were alerted to the dam near Halifax around 3.18pm on Sunday, May 25.
A substantial multi-agency response ensued, involving police, fire and rescue teams, water rescue experts, ambulance crews, and a police helicopter. It’s understood that family members were present at the scene as the search took place.
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious, with investigations ongoing under Calderdale CID, reports Yorkshire Live.
Since the tragedy, hundreds of people including friends and family have paid tribute to the “lovely” and “respectful” teenager. Friends and classmates remembered Reco as a “pleasant” and “funny” young lad, with many finding it hard to come to terms with the sudden loss.
