A glam social media influencer has been found dead aged just 30 – hours after posting a series of haunting clips online. Lifestyle blogger Paola Márquez’s lifeless body was discovered by a heartbroken relative in her flat in on Saturday morning.
The relative raised the alarm but she could not be saved and medics tragically pronounced her dead when they arrived at her apartment in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Paola amassed 1.7m TikTok followers and 180,000 on Instagram to whom she shared lifestyle content including travel clips and videos of everyday moments with her trademark relatable and humorous style.
Her final social media clips showed her in a lift while overlaying the text: “Why would you be in a place where you have more to lose than gain?”
Another TikTok clip featured her saying: “I manifested things, but it seems I manifested backwards because everything I had a little of is slipping away. What’s up Universe, check that for me please!”
A further post read: “I turned off my phone and went to sleep, why the f*** did I think this time would be different.” In her last known livestream she was eating tacos and joking between 4:30am to 5:30am on Saturday, just hours before she was found dead.
Her father, Hércules Márquez Balderas, confirmed her death on social media with a farewell message. He stated that the wake would take place at her grandfather’s home, with burial scheduled at the public cemetery in Huehuetlán.
The state prosecutor’s office continues to gather evidence and await forensic results, with no indication of foul play released so far.
Preliminary information suggests the influencer may have taken her own life, although authorities have not publicly confirmed these details. Some have called for respect for the family’s privacy and urged those struggling with mental health to seek help.
The local government of Huehuetlán expressed their condolences to the family, saying: “The Municipal Government of Huehuetlan deeply regrets the death of Paola Marquez. We send our condolences to her family and loved ones. Rest in peace.”
Authorities are still investigating the death, but initial evidence suggests she may have died by suicide.
