Two teen ladies ‘sexually assaulted’ in Nottingham metropolis centre as police examine
Nottinghamshire Police have launched an investigation following reports that two teenage girls were sexually assaulted in Nottingham city centre. Witnesses have been asked to come forward
Police are appealing for witnesses after two teenage girls were reportedly sexually assaulted during a late-night incident in Nottingham city centre.
Nottinghamshire Police have stated that the incidents are believed to have occurred around 11pm on Thursday, June 4. A cordon was established in Norfolk Place, with the alleged sexual assaults thought to have taken place in the Old Market Square area of Nottingham city centre.
The teenagers are now receiving support from specialist officers, while detectives continue to collaborate with them to investigate the reports, according to a statement from the force.
Detective Inspector Beth Sheard, from Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection unit, has issued a public appeal following the incident. Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact the force to assist the investigation, reports the Mirror.
She stated: “We know that these incidents are very concerning and I would like to reassure the victims and the wider public that we are doing everything we can to investigate these reports.
“Our investigation is now underway and I urge anyone who has any information to call Nottinghamshire Police immediately.”
The force’s statement read: “Detectives have launched an investigation following reports two teenage girls were sexually assaulted overnight.
“The incidents are believed to have happened at around 11pm yesterday (Thursday 4 June) in the Old Market Square area in Nottingham city centre. A cordon is in place in Norfolk Place while investigations continue.
“The victims are now being supported by specialist officers, as detectives continue to work with them to understand the circumstances surrounding the assaults.”
