‘I dwell in Dr. Martens however these £50 alternate options really feel like strolling on air’

I’m obsessed with the £50 lace-up boots that are so comfy I can walk or dance all day in them

There’s something about wearing a pair of Dr. Martens that just makes an outfit feel instantly edgier, even on days when I’m just wearing jeans and a jumper. They’ve got that timeless look, slightly rebellious but still classic, which makes me feel cool at fifty and I love them just as much now as I did in my teens.

What I don’t love, however, is how my feet have chosen to betray me of late. These days I’m more into pottering than punk, looking for increased arch support and, no doubt, a little bit of memory sole.

Imagine my delight then, when I came across the perfect pair of festival boots. Available on Amazon, the Heavenly Feet Martina Lightweight 8-Eyelet Lace-Up Design delivers all the rave, with none of the pain.

Not quite ready to hang up my ‘bovver boots’ and slip into a pair of slip-ons just yet these boots will be going everywhere with me this summer. Starting from £49.95, they come in UK sizes 3 to 8 and the soft leather-look design is a fraction of the price of a pair of DMs.

The Heavenly Feet boots have a classic 8 eyelet lace-up front combined with a full-length side zip and a stretchy panel at the top. That means I can enjoy the traditional lace-up look, but they’re much easier to get on and off.

The comfortable lace up boots come with a super lightweight sole and easy access zipper design.

Inside, there’s a soft textile lining and a removable memory foam insole that shapes to your feet for extra comfort. They’re designed to be worn all day, which is exactly what I need with festival season coming up – I want something I can stand, walk, and dance in from morning to night without my feet giving up on me halfway through.

For me it is the sole that is the most important when it comes to walking or standing for longer periods of time. While hard, rigid soles may be great for stomping about in, I need a lightweight design with a cushioned insole to keep me on my feet all day.

Because footwear should be fun, the Martina boot comes in a variety of options including a rock-tastic Burgundy Rose design and a pretty floral Forest Fantasy, as well as classics like black, red and green.

Elsewhere at Debenhams, comfort fans might enjoy the FitFlop Leather Zip Ankle Boots reduced from £120 to £72. The ankle boots have a convenient side zip, elastic side panels, a rounded toe design and a chunky platform sole for added comfort.

If a pair of Doc’s is still your go-to, Amazon has 16% off the iconic Original Adult’s Vintage 1460 boots. On sale for £95 (down from £115), the boots are available in sizes UK 3 to 13,but prices vary according to size and design.
