BREAKING Massive fireplace rips via Dominican Republic resort as thick smoke fills the sky
A resort in the Dominican Republic has been engulfed in flames with thick plumes of smoke seen billowing into the sky as fire and emergency services battle to get the fire under control

A blaze erupted at the Viva Dominicus Bayahíbe resort in the eastern Dominican Republic, with flames and a towering plume of smoke billowing into the sky as emergency teams rushed to the scene.
Pictures emerging from the resort revealed dense smoke pouring from one wing of the hotel complex in La Altagracia province. Fire crews and other emergency responders were deployed to tackle the inferno.
Officials have yet to disclose what sparked the fire or confirm whether anyone has been hurt. The scale of the destruction is currently unclear. Authorities continued to oversee the situation on Friday afternoon while emergency operations were still ongoing.
