Lionel Messi’s largest fan admits Harry Kane secret and goals of big switch

Harry Kane was England’s saviour on Wednesday evening, scoring twice as the Three Lions fought back from the brink of a shock World Cup exit against DR Congo.

For long periods, England huffed and puffed without reward as Brian Cipenga’s strike left Thomas Tuchel’s side staring at an early elimination. DR Congo’s defence stood firm and looked set to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

But then Kane took centre stage. The Bayern Munich striker powered home a header after brilliant work from Anthony Gordon to drag England level before, just minutes later, firing past the otherwise inspired Lionel Mpesi.

And captain Kane did so with the support of Miss BumBum Suzy Cortez. Suzy, a Lionel Messi fanatic, usually keeps all her support for the greatest of all time.

However, she was more than happy to lend Kane a hand on Wednesday, telling Daily Star Sport: “Another player I will be supporting is Harry Kane!

“I have a strong connection with England, where I lived for many years and a country I deeply admire. I also believe he remains one of the best strikers in the world!”

However, it’s not just in an England shirt that Suzy wants to see Kane scoring – and she hopes one day he will pull on the famous Barcelona jersey.

Suzy added: “I would love to see him wearing a Barcelona shirt in the future.”

It’s a trip to altitude next for the Three Lions, who face the tricky trip to the Estadio Azteca, where they will clash with co-hosts Mexico. And it might be split loyalties for Suzy, who also admitted she’ll be following another striker.

“I will also be cheering for Raúl Jiménez. I have a special affection for Mexico and I support Club América, so I always pay close attention to Mexican players!”

However, none of them come close to Messi: “However, regardless of my individual preferences, my main support will be for Lionel Messi and the Argentine national team, which I believe will win another World Cup title.”

Despite being born in Brazil, Suzy has spent much of her life abroad and even holds British citizenship. Yet it is Argentina, rather than her country of birth, that will have her backing this summer.

“I have always identified more with Argentine football, the passion of its fans and the history of the national team. I am also a huge admirer of Lionel Messi and have followed his career for many years.

“I also have a special affection for countries such as Mexico, England and Spain, places where I have lived meaningful experiences and built important connections.

“But during this World Cup, my heart will be with Argentina. And I truly believe we will see Argentina win its fourth World Cup title.” Suzy has promised her “most creative and surprising coverage yet” for the World Cup.

“In addition to the traditional customised football jerseys for each Argentina match, I’m also bringing an exclusive collection of bodysuits, jackets, sportswear sets, themed dresses, accessories, flags, scarves and even bikinis inspired by the colours and identity of the national teams I support.

“I want every look to tell a story and reflect the energy of each match. I’m bringing three suitcases filled exclusively with outfits and accessories for the World Cup in the United States!”
