Baby and toddler taken to hospital after police go to residence as man and girl arrested
A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of neglect after two young children were taken to hospital following a police visit to an address in Lincolnshire
A man and woman have been arrested following a police visit to a home, which resulted in two children being rushed to hospital. Lincolnshire Police confirmed officers attended a property on Dennis Estate, Kirton, after welfare concerns were raised regarding two children aged one and two on Wednesday.
The youngsters were transported to hospital for medical care and were still receiving treatment last night. Two people, a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of neglect.
They have simce been released on bail pending further investigations. Detective Inspector Claire Rimmer described the investigation as “complex” and said a “significant number of inquiries” would be conducted by the force, reports the Mirror.
She stated: “As part of our investigation we need to complete a significant number of inquiries. While these are happening, we have released the two people who were arrested on bail, with conditions.
“This is a complex investigation and I ask people not to speculate around the facts as it could lead to evidence being undermined and affect our investigation, which I know no-one would wish for.
“The most important people in this investigation are two children, who have a right to anonymity and the best care anyone can give.”
The statement from the force reads: “Officers attended an address on Dennis Estate, Kirton on Wednesday 8 July following concerns for the welfare of children at the address.
“Two children, aged 1 and 2 years, were taken to hospital for medical treatment and remain at hospital at this stage.
“Two people, a woman aged 23 and a man aged 25 were arrested on suspicion of neglect. They have been bailed with conditions while our investigation is ongoing.”
