‘The £14 Korean face sunscreen I swear by as a pale redhead leaves no grease’

The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen is a lightweight, non-greasy Korean SPF50+ that suits most skin types and is currently on sale.

As a fair-skinned redhead, daily SPF is non-negotiable, and over the years I’ve tried more facial sunscreens than I can count. While plenty promise lightweight protection, many fall short, leaving a greasy finish, pilling under makeup or creating an unwanted white cast.

Lately, I’ve found myself reaching for Korean sunscreens thanks to their lightweight textures and comfortable wear, and one affordable formula has quickly become a standout: the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen, which has earned a permanent spot in my morning skincare routine this summer. Better still, the 50ml tube is currently reduced on Amazon from £17 to £14.10, making it a great time to give it a try for those looking for a new everyday SPF.

Besides providing broad-spectrum UVA and UVB SPF50+, it’s also PA++++ which is the highest level of protection a sunscreen can deliver. As such, it’s a more effective shield against the UV rays that trigger premature ageing, wrinkles, and skin damage.

With an airless pump packaging, the formula retains its freshness as this mechanism prevents it from oxidising, while dispensing precisely the right amount of product. But it’s the formula itself that has genuinely won me over.

Being a chemical sunscreen rather than a mineral one, it provides a considerably lighter texture that is absorbed into the skin immediately. Upon first application, I was genuinely impressed by how rapidly it sinks in, setting a high standard for future SPFs, reports the Mirror.

The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen (SPF 50+ PA++++) is a lightweight Korean chemical sunscreen. It combines broad-spectrum UV protection with hydrating skincare benefits, featuring fermented black rice extract for antioxidant defense.

I tend to favour chemical sunscreens for this very reason, as I find physical sunblocks leave an unwelcome residue that just feels like its sitting on top of the skin.

That said, many people do prefer a mineral formula, and for them I would suggest the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen, SPF50+/PA++++, available for £14.10 at Amazon.

From experience, it can prove rather difficult to work sunscreens in and achieve that desirable, transparent finish, particularly when applying the recommended ‘two fingers’ worth of product. With Haruharu Wonder’s formula, I can apply a generous amount and it still absorbs effortlessly, never leaving a greasy finish.

The formula is enriched with black rice extract and rice bran oil, which leaves my skin feeling thoroughly moisturised throughout the day. Additionally, the inclusion of niacinamide helps deliver a brighter, more uniformly radiant complexion over time.

One of the most crucial tests for any SPF is how it performs beneath makeup, and thankfully, Haruharu Wonder passes with flying colours. Foundation glides on smoothly without pilling, while also lending the skin a naturally healthy glow without requiring any additional primers.

I’ve sampled numerous SPF products over my 28 years, and the Haruharu Wonder features amongst my present favourites, which includes the No7 Future Renew UV Defence Shield SPF 50 50ml, priced at £18.71 on sale from £24.95. It’s created with the brand’s strongest yet lightest SPF 50 sun defence alongside anti-ageing peptide technology, and moisturising hyaluronic acid.

Meanwhile, Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen has recently received an enhancement to SPF50. The entirely transparent formula creates no white residue and feels feather-light on the complexion and is ideal for those who favour a somewhat more matte texture rather than radiant.

But with over 2,000 bottles purchased on Amazon in the past month alone, it’s evident I’m hardly the only individual won over by Haruharu Wonder’s Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen.

One happy shopper said: “I received one of these tubes as part of a Korean beauty box edit about 18 months ago and I immediately liked it. I have now re-purchased because I find it the most lovely feel on my skin. It doesn’t make my makeup patchy, it doesn’t pill under makeup, and it absorbs quickly, whilst leaving my skin feeling soft and non-oily. For reference, I have combination skin, I am 37, and have a history of acne-prone skin.”

Another added: “This is a really excellent product. I have a richer skin tone and this does not give me any kind of white film on my skin (which other sunscreens sometimes do). This feels light on the skin, I have worn make up over it without any issues. I would recommend.”

However, owing to its hydrating formula and dewy finish, it may not be ideally suited to those with oily skin. One shopper shared their experience and said: “Tried after reading some reviews. Gives a nice glow. But leaves my skin greasy. My skin type is oily, so not ideal.”

Although another positive review stated: “I stay away from thick sunscreens because I’m an oily babe. But BABY this sunscreen here is one of the best I’ve used.

“Although it’s thick in texture it feels lightweight on the skin and keeps my skin moisturized. Not heavily fragranced which is a plus and doesn’t get heavy with reapplication. Haru haru wonder should make a big size because I run out fast and I’m currently on my 6th tube. This actually comes with no surprises to me because I’ve loved every product I’ve tried from this brand.”

At just over £14 while on offer, the Haruharu Wonder SPF is an affordable way to enhance everyday sun protection. Shoppers can discover the deal here.
