Busy UK park cordoned off after lady ‘sexually assaulted’ as police rush to the scene

Sections of Victoria Park in Stretford were sealed off on Tuesday night (July 21) as officers probe reports that a teenage girl was sexually assaulted.
Police descended on the park at around 6pm following reports that a teenage girl was sexually assaulted within the park grounds. Images from the scene revealed police presence at the park, with a footpath and one section of woodland cordoned off.
This evening Greater Manchester Police confirmed that an investigation was ongoing and that the alleged victim ‘is being supported’ by officers. No arrests have been made as yet. A statement from GMP said: “Greater Manchester Police is investigating a report of sexual assault that occurred shortly before 6pm today (21/07/2026) in Victoria Park, Stretford.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

“No arrests have been made at this time. However, the victim is being supported and detectives are following up multiple lines of enquiry to piece together the full circumstances.”
The beloved park is maintained by the Friends of Victoria Park which was established in 2003 to restore it.

It comes as a pensioner remains in custody after being arrested following reports of anti-social behaviour at a popular Welsh beach on Monday.
South Wales Police officers were called to Aberavon beach around 1.40pm on Monday, where they arrested a 70-year-old man in response to a report of anti-social behaviour.
The man was found to have violated police bail conditions and was arrested on suspicion of carrying a bladed article in public. He remains in custody.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated: “Officers attended Aberavon beachfront at around 1.40pm yesterday (Monday, July 20) following a report of anti-social behaviour.
“Upon arrival the man concerned was identified to be subject to police bail conditions of which he was in breach.
“The man – 70 years old and from Birmingham – was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. He is currently in police custody.”
