Liverpool information: Andoni Iraola’s ‘discussions’ with ex-England star as Reds weigh up stance

Liverpool could be edging nearer to landing Bradley Barcola from PSG, with the Reds and the European champions said to be in talks over the winger. Yet, it hasn’t been the frantic summer of transfer activity that many supporters had anticipated.
Liverpool have looked sharp in wins against Sunderland and Wrexham, but new signings are needed. Indeed, neither of the club’s fresh recruits, Jeremy Jacquet nor Victor Munoz, have featured for Andoni Iraola during pre-season so far.
Today’s updates see a potential move for Kaishu Sano gain traction after the player’s club welcomed offers, while the Reds have been connected with a shock pursuit of former Premier League centre-back Fikayo Tomori with talks said to be underway.

Japanese midfielder Kaishu Sano has been mooted for a transfer to Liverpool this summer. The sporting director at his club Mainz, Christian Heidel, has admitted that the Bundesliga side might allow the midfielder to leave, though only for a significant sum, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The 25-year-old scored for Japan at this summer’s World Cup against Brazil. He has allegedly caught the eye of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. In an interview with BILD, Heidel spoke frankly about the Mainz star’s future.
He admitting they would have little option but to consider a significant offer from a leading club should one emerge. “If an offer comes along that makes us gasp for breath, we have to consider it! There’s no doubt there are interested parties.”

Italian publication Tutto Juve reports that Liverpool have started initial talks with AC Milan concerning a possible move for former Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori.
The outlet suggests that “discussions are currently still in the early stages and negotiations are not yet advanced” as Liverpool consider the potential expense of landing the ex-Chelsea defender. Tomori remains under contract until 2027.
Iraola’s need for a fresh centre-back was emphasised further this week following confirmation that Joe Gomez will miss the start of the campaign through injury.
New signing Jacquet has also yet to appear for the Reds due to a minor fitness issue, while young Italian centre-back Giovanni Leoni and right-back Conor Bradley are still to rejoin pre-season preparations following their respective injuries.
