I’m embarrassed to say it, but I’ve always been a bit tight-fisted when it comes to pans. Despite my love for cooking and preparing meals most days, my collection of cookware has been restricted to whatever was on special at the supermarket whenever one gave up the ghost.

As a result, I had no clue just how remarkable a pan could be. After all, they simply heat up and cook food, don’t they? That’s what I believed until I tried out a range from Made In Cookware that “chefs actually use”.

Given that the handle recently fell off one of my old pans that has seen better days, I took it as a cosmic hint that an upgrade was in order. So I was thrilled to test out Made In Cookware’s 5-piece stainless steel set.

Currently priced at £309, down from £377, the set includes a 25cm stainless clad frying pan, 1.9L stainless clad saucepan with a lid and a 2.8L stainless clad saucepan with a lid. The first thing that struck me is that these are absolute quality and miles away from the run-of-the-mill ones you find in shops – they were so beautiful I almost didn’t want to use them, reports the Daily Record.

From the packaging presentation to the weight and feel of the pans, they exude luxury and really make you feel like you’re on Hell’s Kitchen. They’re made from 5-ply stainless steel, which aids in delivering quick, even heat distribution for superior cooking results while helping to minimise hot spots where food can stick and burn.

The Stainless Sets feature a range of nearly indestructible Stainless Clad tools that will help shoppers craft chef-quality meals

In my experience testing them, I found that these pans require less heat from the hob compared to my previous set. The handles also remain cool, which is a bonus as I’m certain I’d forget and end up burning myself otherwise. Plus, they’re compatible with gas, electric and induction hobs, and they look absolutely stunning.

While the price tag is undoubtedly an investment, the quality is such that Made In Cookware offers a lifetime warranty on the set. It’s easy to see why it’s the go-to choice for many professional chefs — once you master pre-heating the pan and adding the right amount of oil, it makes the food taste sublime.

I reckon the five-piece set would be an excellent starting point for home cooks, perfect for couples or those living alone. The frying pan is ideal for cooking eggs or steak, while the saucepans are just the right size for whipping up some pasta in one and a sauce in the other.

There are also other variations currently on offer, including six, 10 and 13-piece stainless steel sets. The six-piece set is now £499, down from £566, the 10-piece set is £699, reduced from £834, and the 13-piece set is £979, marked down from £1,201.

One thing I would note is that they are quite heavy, which is both a positive (as they feel top-notch), but could potentially be a problem for users who might struggle with the weight.

For those working with a tighter budget, Tefal is a well-established trustworthy brand in the cookware sector, with its Ingenio Simplicity 22-Piece Pan Set priced at £139.99, reduced from £375. That collection is specifically engineered with space-saving in mind, with the stackable pans conserving 50% of space compared to conventional cookware, according to the brand.

Meanwhile, even more affordable is Salter’s Timeless 5-piece set available for £65 at Argos. That includes three saucepans of varying sizes, one frying pan and a milk pan.

Over 110,000 verified reviews of the Made In Cookware brand have been submitted to date, with the majority of purchasers awarding the full five stars. One commented: “I’ve been cooking with the sauté pan now for 3 months on a daily basis and it has been fantastic. Everything that I wanted in a pan and exceptionally well constructed. I highly recommend.”

Another commented: “Great pan, heats evenly and has rounded corners for easy stirring and even cooking. Hefty and well built, with a comfortable handle.”

Meanwhile, a third remarked: “Great pan, large cooking surface and hefty. Feels durable and the finish is great. Heats evenly and can cook eggs with minimal sticking with proper heat control and some oil. Handle is comfortable.”

One buyer observed that while they “love the look and feel” of the pan, they found it “difficult to clean”. The Made In Cookware’s 5-piece stainless steel set can be bought in the sale for £309.
