Woman spots ‘stranger in luxury flat’ on Ring cam after constructing ‘gave out spare key’
A New York woman says she was horrified to spot a stranger lounging in her “luxury” Long Island City flat on a Ring camera while she was away, after her building allegedly handed over her spare key by mistake

A woman says she was left terrified after discovering a stranger had been using her “luxury” New York City apartment while she was out of town – after an alleged key mix-up by her building.
The renter, known as yamkimmm on Instagram, real name Yelim Kim, posted two separate videos of what allegedly occurred at her Long Island City home on Friday (August 7).
In the initial post, Kim showed a clip of what appeared to be her living room via a Ring security camera. Written across the screen, Kim claimed this was footage of a supposed stranger living in her home without her express permission.

It read: “pov your ‘luxury’ NYC apartment handed your spare key to stranger while you were out of town.” Kim reportedly says she was travelling on holiday earlier this month when she received a motion alert from the Ring device.
When she opened the live feed, she claims she saw a brunette woman in a grey asymmetrical dress stroll through her living room and sit down on her sofa, LadBible reported. Moments later, the woman allegedly realised she was being recorded, walked up to the camera and unplugged it from the wall – cutting the feed.
Kim reportedly says it was not a traditional break-in. Instead, she claims building management mistakenly handed over her spare keys to an unauthorised individual, giving them access to her private unit.
Hospitalised
According to the caption, the woman is allegedly mentally unwell, and police were reluctant to pursue things further. It said: “We called the police (108 precinct in Queens) and they told us they cannot arrest her because she’s mentally unstable.
“They dropped her off at a hospital instead. We asked to press charges, and to file a police report, and the officers refused.”
Kim told LadBible: “When we opened our app, we saw a woman repeatedly entering and exiting our apartment. We called the police and contacted our friends who live in the area.
“Our friends rushed over to our apartment while we were on the phone with the police.” She continued: “That’s when the police arrived, and they caught her inside our unit.
“The police escorted her out of our apartment and took her down to the lobby to question her.” She was then apparently taken to a hospital for observation.
Kim reportedly says the building company told her it had “initiated a comprehensive review in partnership with its concierge services provider” and “permanently removed” the employee involved, as well as sharing an updated security checklist.
