Bradley Barcola’s move to Liverpool is progressing
Andoni Iraola leads Liverpool into their final pre-season game against Como on Sunday before the Reds begin their Premier League campaign.
The former Bournemouth manager has already welcomed three senior summer signings. However, Liverpool are pushing for more arrivals as they continue their pursuit of PSG star Bradley Barcola and other targets.
Liverpool’s transfer dealings so far this window have been astute with Victor Munoz’s release clause at Osasuna triggered, resulting in a £34.6million move. Following the arrival of Jeremy Jacquet’s £60m transfer. Ronald Araujo is the most recent addition, arriving from Barcelona on loan with an option to buy for £47.1m. Liverpool’s pursuit of Barcola has reportedly been a cautious one so far. Initial discussions have taken place with the player’s representatives, and various reports suggest a bid is on the horizon.
However, PSG’s valuation, believed to be £130m, has been considered excessive. Despite this, the Parisian club have confirmed the acquisition of a new winger and are poised to finalise the capture of another.
World Cup champion Ferran Torres has moved to PSG from Barcelona for £42m and youngster Mika Godts will shortly be secured from Ajax for £48m. The duo will join Maghnes Akliouche as offensive summer additions.
This twin acquisition surely suggests that Barcola will shortly become expendable and effectively confirms that PSG plan to offload him this summer. Whether their valuation drops, however, remains to be seen.
Godts and Torres being secured could also hand the Reds an advantage concerning Ibrahim Mbaye. French reports indicate a deal for the 18-year-old Senegal international remains possible and Liverpool may also pursue him.

Regarding departures, Liverpool have reportedly reduced their valuation for midfielder Curtis Jones. The Englishman has fallen out of favour with Iraola at Anfield.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a switch to Inter Milan throughout most of the window and with his deal due to expire next year, Liverpool are eager to secure a fee. Jones is an academy product with zero book value on the balance sheet, so under Financial Fair Play rules, any transfer fee he brings will be regarded as pure profit.
Reports from Italy suggested that the valuation had proved problematic during talks and Liverpool were demanding £34m. However, it now seems they’ve reduced this figure to £30m.
English players have been heading to Inter this summer. They’ve captured John Stones on a free transfer following the expiry of his Manchester City contract and Tottenham’s Djed Spence is close to completing a £30m switch to Italy.
