A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death in west London. Police and paramedics, including an air ambulance, were called to an address on Askew Road in Shepherd’s Bush at 8.19am today (Tuesday, August 18).

The Metropolitan Police said two women, aged 52 and 32, were found at the scene suffering from stab wounds. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The 32-year-old woman was rushed to hospital where her condition is currently being assessed.

The Met said a 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution before being discharged into police custody. A blue forensic tent and police cordon have been put up outside the address.

A shocked local worker told how she arrived at the scene to find the street completely blocked off by police vehicles.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We took two patients to hospital, but sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Detectives have launched a full murder investigation into the incident, which they believe was isolated.

Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our enquiries continue at pace as we work to establish the full circumstances of this deeply tragic incident.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim and injured woman.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident within a residential address, but we know it will cause concern locally. Our officers will remain in the area throughout today.

“We will update the community when we can, and I encourage anyone with any information, CCTV or doorbell camera footage which could support the investigation to contact us.”
