Prince Harry is reportedly planning to extend an olive branch to his estranged brother Prince William ahead of the 30th anniversary of their mother’s death next year. The once close-knit brothers have drifted apart over recent years, losing touch with each other.

This rift is thought to have been sparked by Harry’s outspoken criticisms of the Royal Family following his departure from royal duties in 2020, particularly in his 2023 memoir Spare. Although Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation on several occasions, Prince William has remained silent on the matter publicly.

He has notably avoided meeting Harry during the Duke’s visits to the UK, even when meetings with the King have occurred. Speculation is now rife that Harry may attempt to mend fences with William and his wife, Princess Catherine.

It’s suggested that Harry, 41, is keen to reconcile with William and Catherine for the sake of King Charles, and in anticipation of the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, reports the Express.

An insider revealed to Heat World: “He misses his brother and sister-in-law, and wants his father to see his sons at peace.”

Adding to this, they said: “On top of that, Diana’s anniversary is coming up and there are all these emotional reasons for wanting to find a way forward.”

It’s expected that William and Harry will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death in some form next year, whether jointly or separately.

Both princes were very close to their mother prior to her passing, and have spoken openly about the difficulty of losing their mother at such a young age.

In his 2023 memoir, Harry candidly discussed the trauma he experienced upon learning of his mother’s death in the Paris car crash. The Duke of Sussex penned: “I remember waiting patiently for Pa to confirm that indeed Mummy was all right. And I remember him not doing that.”

The prince described how everything then appeared to “stop”.
