Brits to be pummelled by ‘heavy showers’ in hours – see full Met Office record
Thought you were going to have a nice, sunny Bank Holiday did you? Think again. Remember that thing called ‘rain’, well it’s coming back by unpopular demand to 107 places this Monday

Just as Brits get a bank holiday weekend, the rain closes in – and that’s certainly the case this time round (August 29 – 31). The showers are set to persist on Monday, with the Met Office revealing 107 areas set to be pummelled by rain. The wet conditions follow what is likely to be a soggy Sunday, according to the weather station.
Today showers are set to turn heavy and thundery, which will impact festival goers all round the country. Monday is set to be brighter and drier, but won’t be without its downpours.
Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “On Sunday there will be some scattered showers around to start, mostly across Scotland, Northern Ireland might see some.

“The South East could remain dry, but by the evening they will probably start to see some showers, they also could be heavy and thundery.”
On Monday, Met Office maps reveal showers will start at around 8am in the South West, with much of Wales also seeing downpours.
By 12pm the rain will be concentrated in the North West and North East of England, having slightly moved on from the South.

Heading into the afternoon, places as far north as Yorkshire will also see some showers, with Scarborough forecast rain at 4pm.
In the evening – if you’re in the Midlands just leave… and try to look for shelter. By 10pm Birmingham, Nottingham and Loughborough are all set to experience showers.
Honor Criswick added: “It will probably be quite dry first thing on Monday, some showers across western areas, some heavy showers mostly across north Scotland.

“For many areas it’s going to be turning drier and brighter, a better end to the day compared to the start.”
