A masked individual dressed as notorious horror movie character Michael Myers has allegedly been seen causing chaos in West Yorkshire..
Footage showing the disguised person – wearing the Michael Myers mask popularised by the Halloween horror franchise – strolling down Manor Way in Batley. The clip has been uploaded to the Batley Matters local Facebook group, sparking numerous responses from area residents. It comes just weeks after AI footage of a Cat in the Hat figure was faked in multiple locations.
Several commenters alleged the individual had been pursuing people, while others wondered if the episode was connected to a social media craze. The upload has triggered a blend of worry, condemnation and humour from those debating the occurrence.

Ibby Husy Hussain claimed the individual had supposedly pursued a young mum and her toddler, alleging the woman fled onto Dark Lane in terror and barely escaped oncoming traffic, reports Yorkshire Live.
He posted: “This maybe funny to some, this idiot chased a young mother and her toddler, the outcome could’ve been a lot worse!”.
Scent Le Elegance Fmworld also alleged the individual had pursued their sister, stating she bolted onto a main road without checking and was ultimately assisted by an acquaintance.
Additional locals described feeling terrified by the sighting. Vicky Tootill posted: “Well I would s*** myself.” Alexandra Ignac said: “Oh gosh, that’s not funny mate. Get help!”.
An anonymous participant mentioned there was a trend on TikTok featuring people disguising themselves as characters and attempting to scare members of the public, adding: “Don’t give him the attention he craves.”
Faheem Abdullah suggested the incident had been orchestrated after spotting another post featuring the same individual further along the street, with someone recording from a vehicle.
The sighting also triggered numerous Halloween jokes, despite the spooky season still being several weeks off.
David Logue questioned: “Is it Halloween already?”, while Stephen Maloney branded the man as “a bit early”, Jackie Hussain also wrote: “Halloween come early.”
Christine Belmonte reckoned the publicity had delivered exactly what the individual was after, commenting: “Seems he has everyone talking about him, so he achieved his objective.”
Police have yet to confirm any details regarding the circumstances behind the footage or the claims made by social media users.
