The White House has been forced to step in after viral photos appeared to show Donald Trump locking lips with his blonde aide Natalie Harp on a golf course. The images were widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), leading to claims the US President was getting cosy on the green with his 35-year-old assistant.
Critics immediately seized on the pictures as alleged “proof” of a secret romance. However, White House officials have now broken their silence on the snaps, dismissing the picture as “clearly a fake photo”.
Eagle-eyed users were quick to tear the high-resolution version of the image to shreds, highlighting anomalies that point directly to it being created using artificial intelligence.
Most notably, the woman holding the golf club appears to have six fingers on her right hand, while the file carried a hidden SynthID watermark linked to AI generator tools.
Two versions of the picture flooded the web, including a clear original and a blurred copy. Deepfake expert Hany Farid examined both versions for Snopes.
He confirmed the crisp picture was AI-generated, but said the blurry version offered little evidence due to its awful quality. Many have suggested someone purposely downscaled the AI creation to try and trick the public.

Major news photo agencies, including Getty Images, Reuters and the Associated Press, have no record of the snap existing. The rumour gained traction partly because Harp is rarely seen away from the President’s side.
Dubbed his “human printer,” the former TV host famously accompanies him everywhere carrying a battery-powered printer to churn out flattering news headlines and social media posts.
Online trolls have even mockingly branded her his “nappy nurse” – a brutal jab linked to unverified claims that the large black tote bag she carries holds adult nappies for her boss.

Harp, who credits Trump with saving her life in 2018 after helping her access experimental bone cancer treatment, shows extreme dedication to him.
She was once spotted sprinting uphill behind a motorcade of golf carts at Trump Turnberry in Scotland just to keep up.
Financial disclosures also revealed Trump handed Harp a staggering $45,000 (£33,000) Christmas cash bonus on top of her $150,000 (£110,000) salary.
Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff recently poked fun at their bond during a rally, saying: “He [Trump] doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie.”
With speculation reaching fever pitch, First Lady Melania Trump’s team forcefully hit back. Senior advisor Marc Beckman trashed the gossip, leaping to Harp’s defence in an interview on YouTube.
He said: “The liberal media is ridiculous. What they need to do is look in the mirror because they’re all attacking this hardworking, very talented, very intelligent person in Natalie Harp. They’re obsessed with the gossip with the first family.”
