A man has tragically lost his life after falling from a vehicle in a Sunderland car park, leading to the arrest of a woman at the scene.
The man succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Monday following the fatal incident which occurred just after 6am on Sunday, September 20.
Northumbria Police were alerted to the incident at Station Car Park, located in the Holmeside area, and have confirmed that the deceased, a 32-year-old man, fell from a silver Ford Torneo for reasons currently under investigation. He was rushed to hospital and his next of kin were notified, while a 36-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

She has since been released under investigation as enquiries into the incident persist.
Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man sadly passed away. Specially trained officers are now providing support to his grieving family.
The investigation is ongoing, with officers keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone present in the area at the time of the incident, reports Chronicle Live.
Sergeant Dave Roberts, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, commented: “This is a totally tragic incident which has resulted in a man losing his life. As always, the thoughts of everyone here at Northumbria Police are with his friends, family, and loved ones as they process their loss.
“Our enquiries are at an early stage, but as part of our investigation, we’re looking to speak to anyone who may have information which could assist us in establishing how the man came to exit the vehicle.
“We’re especially keen to hear from anyone who may have seen four people walking towards Station Car Park in Sunderland at around 6am, just before this incident took place.
“If you were in the area at the time and witnessed anything which could provide this man’s family with answers – we want to hear from you. Even the smallest detail could make a massive difference to our investigation.”
