Arsenal misery has continued into the international break, with Mikel Arteta’s side being dealt a fresh blow just days into the international break.
The Gunners are already having to sit on a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Brighton for the three-week break – and now one of the internationals who has been called up to represent his country has had to withdraw with an injury. However, it’s not all bad news.
Mikel Arteta can use the time off to finally agree terms with Arsenal about a new deal – with the Spaniard heading into the final 12 months of his contract. And with that in mind, Daily Star Sport has rounded up all the latest news from the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta ‘agrees new deal’
Arteta has reportedly been handed a salary boost after bringing Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the Premier League title to an end.
The 44-year-old will be keen to build on his recent achievements, having also guided the club to the Champions League final last term, reports the Mirror.
BBC Sport reveals that Arteta has settled on a new contract, which will see him earn more than his current £10million yearly wage and £5m in bonuses. The exact duration of his new deal is not disclosed, but it’s suggested that it will extend into his 10th year at the helm.
The Spaniard is in the final year of his contract. However, Arteta was swift to quash any concerns about his future.
He said: “They [fans] don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with.”

Arsenal prodigy Marli Salmon has pulled out of international duty due to an undisclosed injury.
The 17-year-old defender was selected for the England U18 squad for their forthcoming matches against Colombia, Egypt and South Korea as part of the UEFA Friendship Cup.
The England squad announcements indicate Salmon has withdrawn due to injury and been replaced by Chelsea’s Gabriel Sambou in Will Antwi’s team. Salmon has yet to feature for England U18s but took part in last year’s U17 World Cup.
He started Arsenal’s Carabao Cup triumph over Ipswich Town earlier this month and was part of the Champions League matchday squad against Napoli, in addition to making three appearances for the club’s U21 team this season.
