UK snow forecast as Arctic -4C freeze to hit 31 counties – see full listing
The UK is bracing for an Arctic chill as WXCharts weather maps turn purple, suggesting snow could blanket at least 31 counties across Scotland and England. Temperatures could plummet to as low as -4C by November 11
The UK is preparing for a cold snap as the latest weather maps have turned purple, signalling potential snowfall across swathes of the nation. Weather charts from WXCharts indicate that at least 31 counties throughout Scotland and England could experience snow as temperatures plunge to as low as -4C at 6am on November 11.
The weather charts reveal that freezing conditions will begin gripping the country next week, blanketing most of Scotland in snow. The wintry weather is set to spread into England too, with regions near Leicester, Surrey, Birmingham and Oxford in line for flurries, the maps suggest.
Temperatures are forecast to nosedive below zero in numerous areas as a savage Arctic blast sweeps in, with locations closer to Inverness bearing the brunt of the cold.
The weather charts indicate Inverness, Fort Williams, Portress and Stirling will experience mercury levels fluctuating between bone-chilling lows of -3C and -4C, while the Midlands will see temperatures drop to -1C.
The predicted snow on the latest weather maps follows the Met Office issuing multiple yellow warnings for fog blanketing vast areas of the UK in recent days, with thick fog reducing visibility to below 100 metres anticipated in many regions.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast for November 6 to 15 states: “High pressure is likely to dominate conditions across much of the UK initially, with large amounts of cloud at times but any amounts of rain or drizzle tending to be small.”, reports the Express.
“Quite breezy in the south, but a greater chance of some fog patches in northern areas where winds will be lighter.
“As the high pressure begins to migrate away to the east, frontal systems may attempt to bring some occasional rain to parts of the southwest and/or northwest at times, though exactly how much progress into the UK this makes is uncertain.
“In any case, rainfall is likely to be below average in many areas for this period as a whole, with temperatures initially a little below average before returning to near or slightly above average.”
