A terrifying military invasion and biblical firestorms are heading our way in 2027, according to decoded prophecies from history’s favourite doom-monger. French astrologer Nostradamus, who died in 1566, has spooked generations with four-line verses that fans claim foresaw the rise of Hitler, 9/11 and the Great Fire of London.

An analysis by Sky HISTORY now reveals that modern sleuths reckon the 16th-century seer had a grim batch of catastrophes lined up for next year. Leading the doomsday warnings is a chilling hint of war erupting on Europe’s eastern doorstep.

In Century V, quatrain 27, he wrote: “Through fire and arms not far from the Black Sea, / He will come from Persia to occupy Trebizond.”

With Persia being old-school Iran and Trebizond the historic Black Sea port of Trabzon in modern Turkey, prophecy-watchers claim the verse paints a terrifying picture of an Iranian blitzkrieg sparking chaos across the region.

If bloody conflict isn’t enough to worry about, the mystic also dropped a stomach-churning vision of fires falling from the sky to roast the planet.

One passage reads: “Celestial fire from the Western side, / And from the South, running up to the East.” It then describes “worms half dead without finding even a root.”

Interpreters claim the bleak visual points to raging infernos and wildfires so savage that entire ecosystems are scorched to the bedrock, wiping out underground life completely. Your wallet won’t escape the carnage either.

Another ominous rhyme warns of “copies of gold and silver inflated” alongside crushing debts and destroyed financial paper trails, sparking fears of a global market crash.

Back in Europe, the seer took aim at his native France, claiming a shadowy figure is set to strike down the “Dauphin” – the ancient title reserved for the heir to the French throne.

Analysts reckon that’s a coded nod to an unexpected political hit job, with a frontrunner getting ruthlessly taken down right on the cusp of power.

To top off the freakish forecast, there’s even a bizarre tale of greed turned deadly: “Beneath the oak tree of Gienne, struck by lightning, the treasure is hidden not far from there.”

According to the verse, anyone brazen enough to unearth the secret stash meets a grisly end with their eyeball spiked by a hidden spring, which theorists have linked to booby-trapped hauls like Canada’s Oak Island money pit.

The panic comes down to a theory that the 27th verses in his book Centuries secretly align with 2027. However, the old mystic never jotted down the exact year “2027” on his parchment.

But if the doom-mongers are on the money, you might want to start stocking up on tinned grub just in case.
