A Tesco branch in a major UK town was evacuated after a woman tragically died in store. Emergency services raced to the scene after receiving a welfare concern report for a woman inside the supermarket on Saturday (November 7).

Police have now confirmed that the woman, in her 50s, could not be saved and tragically lost her life.

Police and paramedics were summoned to the Tesco on Silk Street, in Rochdale, after a shopper raised the alarm at around 3pm.

The woman was understood to have received treatment from store staff before ambulance crews turned up. Shoppers were instructed to exit the store and clear the car park to enable emergency services to handle the incident.
