Swingers heading for Paris Olympics spoilt for selection at ‘universe of pleasures’
Swingers visiting Paris for the games will have plenty of places to perform bedroom Olympics.
That’s because the city has 25 wife-swapping clubs. And one of the most popular venues lays on a buffet of French bread and cheese so exhausted sexual athletes can recharge their batteries between romps.
Others serve gourmet meals to a well-heeled clientele and one deals with kinky whips and chains sex games and has its own library.

A guide to sex with strangers in the French capital said: “If sex is on your mind and you’re feeling experimental, Paris is undoubtedly the place to go if you’re a swinger. And swinging takes on many different forms and positions.
“Don’t assume that a door marked Club Privé in one of Paris’s better neighbourhoods is reserved for members who want to discuss philosophy. Natives and tourists mix without a language barrier.”
The most famous club in the city is Les Chandelles (The Candles) – a haunt of rock stars, actors and politicians. Swingers dine on fillet steak or sea bass and neck champagne cocktails before meeting up in the playrooms for sex.
The joint offers valet parking and mobile phones stay in a locker.
Women must don evening wear and heels and blokes pants, a long-sleeved shirt and smart shoes.
Bills can exceed £250 per couple for drinks, food and entrance to the sex club.
Recently the grande dame of Les Chandelles, Valérie Hervo, left its illustrious visitors quaking in their designer shoes after writing a tell-all book about the club.
Known to her regulars as “Madame Valérie”, the glamorous owner describes the venue as a “universe of pleasures”.
“Sex is just the cherry on the cake. I get drunk just on the atmosphere,” she writes in Les Dessous des Chandelles (Inside Les Chandelles).
One visitor – rumoured to be Rolling Stones superstar Mick Jagger – was told to go and change his trainers before he was allowed in.
Jeans and trainers are “for chopping wood”, Valérie insisted.
She wrote: “Faced with this very old rule in France, even the singer of an illustrious British rock group had to give in: sheepishly, he left to change. No satisfaction.”
At the La Marquise Club, the doors are open from 10pm to 5am on a weekend.
The price is £75 per couple but revellers get two drinks each at the well-stocked bar.
Bottles of vintage Champagne cost up to £250 and valet parking is £10.
The club also serves up a buffet of Gallic delicacies during its regular orgies.
One recent visitor said in a review: “Beautiful club in the heart of Paris. Superbly conducted by its two super gentle owners. They pamper us from the very moment we arrived making us feel like at home and offering drinks. A must to go place in Paris. Hope to meet you soon again. “
The Cris et Chuchotements (Cries and Whispers) is £40 for couples and deals with S&M and bondage in its several dungeons.
The dress code is all black and the place boosts a library with leather chairs for swingers to relax in – if they can sit down after a flogging!
