Huge hearth engulfs London tower block as 60 firefighters despatched to sort out blaze
A fire has broken out on the ninth floor of a London high-rise. A firefighter can be heard shouting at members of the public “can everyone get back please”.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a fire at a block of flats on Hermitage Street in Paddington, London Fire Brigade has confirmed.
The fire has been brought under control but members of the public are asked to avoid the area whilst firefighters work to fully extinguish the fire.
The Brigade’s Control Officers have received more than 10 calls about the fire.
The Brigade was called at 2046 and the fire was brought under control at 2143. Crews from Paddington, Kensington, North Kensington and surrounding fire stations remain at the scene. A 32 metre turntable ladder has also been in use as a water tower to help fight the fire from height.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
