Manchester United players Amad and Alejandro Garnacho are reportedly livid after being accused of leaking team information.

The Red Devils have been plagued by an issue of their team selections being leaked prior to matches – a problem that was evident shortly before their Manchester derby triumph over Manchester City. This is an issue that predates Ruben Amorim‘s tenure at the club, with both ex-managers David Moyes and Jose Mourinho trying to address it.

Amorim himself has also voiced his concerns. And there have been whispers on social media suggesting that Amad – who netted the winning goal at the Etihad – and Garnacho could be the culprits. However, the pair have allegedly reacted furiously to these online claims.

As per Mail Online, both the club and the players believe they have been unjustly accused and are adamant about defending themselves against these claims. Club chiefs are expected to stand by the duo, while there is a belief that those accusing the players are doing so in a bid to boost their online presence.

Both Garnacho and Amad nearly took matters into their own hands last week, reports the Mirror. They intended to voice their side ahead of the Europa League victory against Viktoria Plzen but were persuaded not to as it was thought that it would only exacerbate the situation.

It is suggested that United have not initiated an official investigation into the leaks, accepting that such information is inevitably going to seep into the public sphere given the magnitude of the club. Whilst there’s no official probe inside the club, insiders believe they have a handle on who might be behind recent leaks. It’s murmured that those close to the megastars, rather than the players themselves, are the potential sources.

The powers that be are hopeful that by bringing the issue into the spotlight, it will put a stop to secrets being spilled. Amorim himself has recently opened up about the challenges of keeping club matters confidential.

Following the Manchester derby, Amorim said: “I think it’s impossible to fix nowadays because you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents. You can talk with friends, so it’s hard to know. It’s not a good thing but let’s move on and go to the next one and see if they find the next starting XI.”Looking ahead, Amorim faces the task of selecting two different United squads in the coming days as they face Spurs in the Carabao Cup knockouts on Thursday, followed by a league match with Bournemouth come the weekend.
