Specialist 3,000-strong Brit regiment able to ship Putin a ‘defiant message’
A huge collection of British forces have been placed outside the Ukrainian boarder and are practising while on hold, with officials claiming they are ‘ready’ to jump in
A specialist force comprised of British troops has been poised near Ukraine and the soldiers are ready to send Putin a defiant message.
Currently, the soldiers are participating in war games to simulate battlefield scenarios that they could experience against Russian forces. In the so-called ‘games,’ troops were forced to crawl through snow into trenches in full gear as they prepared for what could come in Eastern Europe. Officials have also revealed that the exercise, named Steadfast Dart, had 10,000 soldiers from eight NATO armies involved.
The purpose of the exercise was to send a warning to Putin and prove that British troops would be ready to form a peacekeeping fight when called upon.
Soldiers engaged in close combat fighting at NATO’s largest drill of the year in Smârdan, eastern Romania – with 3,000 British troops sending a “defiant message,” according to the Sun. It took place just a stone’s throw away from Ukraine.
The 4th Scottish Regiment, alongside Romanian troops, gave a big demonstration to other soldiers on how they hunt and kill rival soldiers at close range. It took place inside dirty trenches, similar to those used in World War One, and inflatable buildings which were used to mimic empty buildings they could find in Ukraine.
Brigadier Andy Watson, of the Allied Reaction Force, told the Sun: “The UK and its partners through Operation Interflex have trained over 50,000 Ukrainian soldiers.
“We’ve learnt an awful lot from the Ukrainian Army through that mission.”
He added their training has been focusing on trenches, which are currently being used. They’ve been working with Ukrainian forces, as well as UK engineers, to ensure that they create new methods to protect soldiers in modern warfare.
All of their practises, which include being gassed and forced to dodge bullets, replicate an active war zone.
The troops are “very prepared” if sent to Ukraine. Watson said: “The goal here is to provide options to ministers if and when required.”
They’re said to be well-equipped and close to the Romanian forces. Royal Artillery Lt Col Harry Waller, commanding officer of the Multi-National Fires Group, also said: “It sends a message that we’re ready to project multinational force over large distances within days to meet any threat.”
Keir Starmer revealed over the weekend he would send over “peacekeeping troops” to Ukraine if needed, following a peace deal currently in the works by US President Donald Trump.
