BREAKING Dog assault leaves pensioner critically injured as 999 calls sees cops swarm space

A 74 year old bloke is in hospital after being mauled by a dog in North Yorkshire. The terrifying incident, which took place on Friday, October 31, also saw a 50 year old man bitten by the beast.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing around six police cars and two ambulances rushing to the scene in Loftus. The younger man was treated for a wrist injury, while the older gent was whisked off to hospital with a serious arm injury.

The dog’s owner, a 64 year old man, was arrested in connection with the attack. Cleveland Police revealed that the canine was a large cross breed.

Officers managed to contain the animal inside the property before it was taken away to specialist kennels, reports the Mirror.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called to an incident on West Road, Loftus, shortly before 9.30am on Friday 31 October. We dispatched two double crewed ambulances and a specialist paramedic. Two patients were taken to James Cook University Hospital.”

A police spokesperson told Teesside Live: “The 74-year-old man sustained a serious injury to his arm and is still receiving hospital treatment. A 50-year-old man was also bitten by the dog and he received treatment to his wrist at hospital before being discharged. The dog’s owner, a 64-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the incident and was interviewed then bailed pending further enquiries.”
