Ashton prepare station incident as police, ambulance and fireplace rush in with companies halted

Police, ambulances and fire engines have rushed to a UK train station responding to an incident this evening, with a cordon seen at the scene.
There is a huge emergency services presence at the train station in Ashton-under-Lyne, off Wellington Road. A number of ambulances, as well as police vehicles can be seen in the car park. Members of the fire service have also been seen entering the station.
All lines have been closed between Manchester and Stalybridge, meaning services could be cancelled or severely delayed. National Rail said: “The emergency services dealing with an incident between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge means all lines are closed. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.”
Disruption is expected until at least 8pm.
Northern services between Southport, Wigan North Western and Stalybridge have been impacted. TransPennine Express services have also been affected between Liverpool Lime Street and Hull, Newcastle, and between Manchester Airport and Redcar Central, Saltburn, and also between Manchester Victoria and Scarborough.
A video shared with Manchester Evening News shows the huge emergency response and cordon in place on Turner Lane, beneath the railway bridge.
