Folk with a tattoo on their neck are the most ‘desirable’, a study has found. Researchers showed 1,000 folk a range of tattoos and found that those – both men and women – with a ‘smallish’ tattoo on their neck were judged ‘sexiest’.
Among the celebrities with neck tattoos include Selena Gomez, who has ‘Rare’ inked on the side of her neck, and singer Rihanna, who has ‘rebel fleur’.
Next on the list was a tattoo on the upper thigh, followed by the rib cage, and the hip. The least sexy area to get a tattoo was on top of your head. In 2007, Dayne Gilbey, then just 19 and from Coventry, made the headlines when he got a full English breakfast tattooed on his head, complete with bacon, eggs, sausages and beans.
A spokesman for Drachen Toys said that the top five were due to them being near ‘sensual areas’.
Sex consultant Julia Stein said: “Where you choose to get inked can be just as seductive as what you’re getting inked. Certain placements have a hidden sensual appeal because they invite curiosity and create moments of discovery.”
She added: “These (top 5) tattoo placements share a common thread they balance visibility with mystery. They’re not constantly on show, which makes them feel more special when they are revealed.
“That element of discovery is what makes them so powerful in intimate settings. The Upper thigh, rib cage, back of neck, and hip tattoos spark desire through subtle visibility and proximity to intimate zones.”
